Speed Gas offers a variety of industry-grade welding gases including Argon, Argon Mixes, Oxygen, Nitrogen Mixes, Acetylene and CO2. All of our welding gases can be purchased directly from Speed Gas or from one of our various partners across Australia.
Whether you require welding gas for your MIG (metal inert gas) or TIG (tungsten inert gas) welders, Speed gas has you covered. Speed gas offers our customers the choice of either renting or purchasing our bottles, depending on their needs.
For safety purposes, all gas cylinders should be kept upright in a cool, well-ventilated area away from sources of heat and combustible materials and protected from physical damage.
Inert Shielding Gasses
Inert welding gases are used to protect or blanket the welding arc during the welding process, the high temperature metal needs to be kept isolated from air, dust and other gases to avoid a chemical reaction.
This is where an inert gas such as argon is utilised as it should not react to the extreme heat conditions and remain a stable ‘barrier’ between the high temperature weld, and the external air.
Gas welding removes the need for a welding arc, adopting a simpler method of using gas to heat/melt the filler rod, allowing it to fuse to the base metal. The gas is usually solely oxygen or mixed with argon or acetylene. Oxygen and acetylene are reactive gases, they change when exposed to a variety in status such as a temperature change. Oxygen and Acetylene are effective fuel sources.
