Welding

Speed gas supplies a variety of solutions for industrial welding applications, they are suitable for use with MIG (metal inert gas) and TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding machines. Speed Gas offers several gases for welding applications whether you are shielding, blanketing, or heating. Namely: Argon, Argon Mixes, Oxygen, Nitrogen Mixes, Acetylene and CO2.
For safety purposes, all gas cylinders should be kept upright in a cool, well-ventilated area away from sources of heat and combustible materials and protected from physical damage.

Inert Shielding Gasses
Inert welding gases are used to protect or blanket the welding arc during the welding process, the high temperature metal needs to be kept isolated from air, dust and other gases to avoid a chemical reaction.
This is where an inert gas such as argon is utilised as it should not react to the extreme heat conditions and remain a stable ‘barrier’ between the high temperature weld, and the external air.

Heating Gasses
Gas welding removes the need for a welding arc, adopting a simpler method of using gas to heat/melt the filler rod, allowing it to fuse to the base metal. The gas is usually solely oxygen or mixed with argon or acetylene. Oxygen and acetylene are reactive gases, they change when exposed to a variety in status such as a temperature change. Oxygen and Acetylene are effective fuel sources.
